Description	Program for the launching ceremonies of the S.S. Sparrows Point (MC Hull 1257), which were held on October 17, 1942 at the Bethlehem-Sparrows Point Shipyard in Baltimore. The program includes a recommendation, approved by the U.S. Maritime Commission, that MC Hull 1257 be named the S.S. Sparrows Point and its home port be Baltimore. This was to be done in recognition of the "patriotic activities" of the workers of the Sparrows Point shipyard. The program also includes a listing of the ceremony activities, such as a flag raising, scrap drive, singing of the "Marine's Hymn" an address given by a government representative, and the playing of "Maryland, My Maryland."
