Description	In this undated incomplete letter, Gabriel Harrison, a New York friend of Edgar Allan Poe, writes to Maria Clemm, Poe's mother-in-law, telling her how much he wants to hear from her, especially about her "Eddy", and how committed he is to clearing Poe's name and reputation. He even suggests she tell the story of both Poe's and her own life! (Editor's note: Coverage for this letter, i.e., the decade during which this letter was most likely composed, is thought to be between 1861 and 1870. This is because Harrison, who had been a photographer, gave up the business around 1863, when he became involved in theater in Brooklyn. Thus the letter would have to have been written after 1863. In another letter dated December 1, 1864 (see item scpc022), Harrison appears to be reestablishing correspondence with Maria Clemm after some time has elapsed. Thus the present fragment would have to have been written after 1864. Lastly, Mrs. Clemm died in 1871. Thus, coverage is given as 1861-1870.)
