Description	This document contains (1) an account of Edgar Allan Poe's death and funeral as given by the Reverend Mr. Clemm, a cousin of Poe's and the methodist minister who officiated at his funeral, and (2) a statement given by Mr. J. S. Macher about the two men who found Poe unconscious in Baltimore and called for help, both to Mrs. D. H. Carroll, who transcribed their statements. (Editor's note: If there was a cover letter from Mrs. D. H. Carroll to Miss Sara Sigourney Rice concerning the contents of this envelope, it is not now included, although information as to what the envelope contained is written on the front in what appears to be a different hand and at a later time.)

When Edgar Allan Poe was on his way to Philadelphia to be married the second time he stopped in Baltimore where he met some of his old associates who induced him to drink liquor which so crazed him that he went-off on a regular debauch . He was found in Lexington market, lying on a butcher's block
