Description	In this 7-page handwritten incomplete document, Ferdinand C. Latrobe (1833-1911) provides a light-hearted look at the need for pure foods. On June 30, 1906, the Pure Food and Drug Act became law. As part of the effort to educate the consumer about that law and its effects, numerous pure food expositions were held around the United States. It is believed Latrobe gave this speech at the Industrial and Pure Food Exposition held at the Fifth Regiment Armory from September 18 to October 7, 1910. (Editor's note: The last page of this speech ends abruptly, so it is thought this speech is incomplete.)

Transcript	1 His Honor the Mayor has made a most excellent address and has thus formally and officially opened this pure food exposition. Anything therefore that I may have to say will be in the line of urging upon you the encouragement of the enterprize and willing if that success which an inspection of what I might really call its wonders, and attractions will show that it is entitled to[.] There are a few self [words illegible] that are suggested by an exhibition of this character.
