In answer Re your circular of June 15th which accompanies this letter, I can only state that I encamped with a large Brigade of Cavalry on some fine pasture Land on the south side of Manchester, on or about the 1st July 1863 and there is not a doubt but that we consumed a considerable quantity of grass and pasturage during the short time we were there.
We also verry [sic] probably consumed some of his rails[.] There is not a doubt but what the owner of the property sustained a loss.
