Do You Know that the
FOOD STAMP PLAN
Gives P.W.A. Workers and
others Receiving Public Assistance
50% MORE FOOD
for the Money They Spend
HERE'S HOW THE PLAN WORKS:
The Food Stamp Plan is operated by the Dept. of Agriculture in cooperation with local public welfare agencies, public officials, local banks and the local food industry. This plan is a new method of distributing surplus food to families maintaining their own household and certified for public assistance.
The Plan provides that FREE BLUE food order stamps shall be used to buy these surplus farm products. ORANGE Stamps will buy ANY food product. Participation in the plan is entirely voluntary.
Householders getting assistance in the form of cash may buy Orange colored food stamps and wil be GIVEN Blue surplus food stamps at the rate of one free Blue stamp for every two Orange stamps purchased.
Orange and Blue stamps can be exchanged for food at any American Store or Acme Super Market within the limits of Baltimore. Households buying food stamps will be able to get $1.50 worth of food for each $1.00 they spend for food. A family entitled to $6.00 worth of Orange stamps will receive $3.00 worth of Free Blue Food Stamps in addition, making a total purchasing powerof $9.00 for that family.
This plan helps protect the American Farmer, and agriculture is a vital need in time of peace or war. The American farmer has lost his foreign market and the Food Stamp Plan will do a great deal to absorb the surplus created by this lost business. We depend upon the farmers of America- the stamp plan wil help them sell their crops at a profit.
