Transcript
In
presenting
today
the
museum
and its
contents
to
Hagerstown
and
Washington
County
I
should
like
to
express
apart
from
my
note
of
thanks
to the
Mayor
and
Council
a
few
words
of
especial
thanks
and
praise
to the
County
Commissioners
and their
Chairman
for the
really
wonderful
thing
they have
done
for the
children
throughout
the
County
.
Their
support
and
interest
have
made
possible
the
chance
of an
artistic
growth
in the
out-of-way
places
, and
thus
the
development
of a
wider
vision,-the
awakening
of the
soul
to the
glory
of
God’s
Created
Nature
and the
beauty
that
lies
about
them
neither
seen
nor
felt
before-Now,all
who
will
may
feast
and
learn
. To those
too
far
removed
to
come
to the
Museum
the
opportunity
to
see
and
learn
shall
be
given
them
through
the
wonderful
and
perfectly
conceived
idea
of
Miss
Titcomb
and
Mrs
.
Hamilton,–the
“Traveling
Museum”–a
truly
splendid
achievement
.
My
happiness
in
being
a
part
of this
developing
work
is
beyond
my
power
to
express
, as
is
also
my
appreciation
of the
helpful
cooperation
whole
heartedly
given
by
one
and
all
towards
the
completion
of this
Institution
so
necessary
for the
greater
spiritual
growth
of the
Town
and
County
.
That the
Museum
may
fulfill
its
purpose
,
even
beyond
our
fondest
dreams
and
hopes
,
is
the
hearts
desire
of
my
husband
and
myself
.

Description
Letter
. On the
occasion
of the
presentation
of the
Museum
,
Anna
Brugh
Singer
writes
of her
thanks
to those
involved
in the
Museum
and her
hopes
for its
future
.
Notes
Anna
Singer
offers
her
appreciation
to the
many
Hagerstonians
who
have
contributed
to the
success
of the
Museum
.
Among
the
recipients
of her
thanks
are
Mavin
J
.
Hamilton
and
Mary
L
.
Titcomb
who
were
members
of the
Museum
committee
.
Much
like
Miss
Titcomb's
earlier
idea
of the
bookmobile
the "
traveling
museum
"
mentioned
was a
lending
library
of
art
reproductions
,
taken
to
schools
and
civic
organizations
located
outside
of
downtown
Hagerstown
.
